How To Add Refrigerant in Screw Chiller?

Jun 26, 2022 Leave a message

The screw chiller plays a vital role in the refrigeration equipment. This is something everyone who works in this industry needs to know.

First of all, let's review, what are the types of refrigerants? Generally speaking, refrigerants can be divided into five categories according to their chemical composition:

1. Freon;

2. Unsaturated hydrocarbon refrigerants;

3. Saturated hydrocarbon refrigerants;

4. Inorganic compound refrigerants;

5. Azeotrope refrigerants.

In these five categories, screw chillers usually use R-22 type refrigerant, and the chemical composition is difluoro-chloromethane. Mainly used in medium and low temperature commercial refrigeration, catering refrigeration, supermarket display cabinets, residential and commercial air conditioning systems. Next, what are the charging methods for the refrigerant of the water-cooled screw chiller.

After the refrigeration system has been strictly tested for no leakage, the refrigerant can be charged. There are two ways to charge refrigerant:

1. Filling from the bypass hole of the compressor discharge valve: It is to inject the freon liquid directly into the system. Its advantage is that the filling speed is fast and safe, and it is suitable for the situation where there is no refrigerant in the system and the vacuum is drawn, that is, it is suitable for the first filling. It is automatically discharged into the system by the pressure difference and height difference between the freon in the cylinder and the system. If this method is used to perfuse Freon vapor. Then the injection volume is very small, and only when the liquid is poured can it be filled more and faster. Moreover, the freon in the bottle is not completely filled. When the pressure in the system is higher than 3KG/MC2, the filling on the high-pressure side should be stopped. If the filling amount is insufficient, the filling can be changed from the suction side. Never start the compressor to avoid accidents.

2. Filling from the bypass hole of the suction valve of the compressor: Filling the freon gas from the low-pressure side of the compressor, start the compressor, and do not inject liquid refrigerant, so as to avoid the liquid shock of the machine. This method is suitable for the situation that the system is insufficient and needs to be replenished. In general business or canteens in our country, the small Freon refrigeration system is usually used in the form of a unit, and most of the high-pressure parts have been filled with Freon in the manufacturing plant. Therefore, most small freon devices need to be supplemented with refrigerant.
