How To Remove the Scale of Condenser in Chiller

It is easy for the condenser pipe to form scale after long-term use of the chiller. If it is not treated in time, the scale will affect the heat exchange effect, lead to the increase of the condensing temperature of the unit, and then lead to the reduction of the cooling capacity and the increase of the power consumption of the unit. Therefore, the condenser of the refrigerator should often carry out scale removal. So what are the methods to remove the scale of condenser in industrial chiller?

1, Chemical cleaning method:

Chemical cleaning mainly uses cleaning solution, first with acid solution, then neutralizes with alkali solution, and finally rinse with clean water, and wash acid and alkali solution clean.

1. The circulating pump and pipeline can be connected between the cleaning storage tank and condenser to form a closed circuit, which can keep the cleaning liquid circulating for 12-24 hours, so that the sediment can dissolve and fall off.

2. The cleaning liquid can be added to the cooling water system in a certain proportion, and the cooling pump can be opened for 12-24 hours. The sediment layer is dissolved and peeled off by the chemical action and scour of the cleaning fluid. But this method requires a large amount of cleaning water, which is costly.

3. Mix the cleaning solution in a certain proportion and put it in the condenser for 5-10 hours to soften and dissolve the sediment, drain the cleaning liquid and wash it with clean water.

The advantages of chemical cleaning are thorough scale removal and reducing the workload of workers. The disadvantage is that the cleaning solution may cause corrosion to the copper pipe of condenser. The waste liquid discharged after cleaning is very expensive. The manufacturer of the chiller reminds that the proportion of solution, cycle time and soaking time shall be paid attention to during chemical cleaning to prevent the condenser from being corroded.

2, Physical cleaning method:

Physical cleaning mainly uses soft shaft brush cleaning. The flexible shaft is driven by the motor of the cleaning machine. There is a nylon brush in the front of the flexible shaft. When in use, the flexible shaft and brush are extended into the copper tube of the condenser, and the dirt in the copper tube is removed by rotating the forward brush at high speed. Finally, the machine is washed with clean water. This kind of machine is called tonggung machine.

The advantage of physical cleaning is to save the cost of chemical cleaning solution, avoid the problem of waste liquid treatment after chemical cleaning, and is not easy to cause the corrosion of condenser copper tube. The disadvantage is that for hard scale and corrosion products with strong adhesion, the cleaning effect is not good, and the cleaning operation is time-consuming and laborious.

If there is too hard scale in the condenser, it is recommended to combine chemical cleaning with physical cleaning. First, soak the condenser with cleaning solution, and then remove the scale by physical cleaning method after the scale is softened.
