What is an Industrial Chiller?
An industrial chiller, also known as an industrial refrigeration unit, is a specialized device designed to provide chilled circulating water for industrial production processes. It acts like a "cooling guardian" in industrial manufacturing, removing excess heat generated by machinery and production processes to maintain a stable low-temperature environment within the system, thereby ensuring production efficiency and quality.
Working Principle
The refrigeration process of an industrial chiller is based on the vapor-compression refrigeration cycle principle. It mainly consists of four core components: the evaporator, compressor, condenser, and expansion valve, forming a closed refrigeration system. - Evaporator: The low-pressure and low-temperature liquid refrigerant exchanges heat with the medium to be cooled (usually water or brine) in the evaporator. The refrigerant absorbs heat and rapidly evaporates into a gaseous state, thereby reducing the temperature of the cooling water.
- Compressor: The low-pressure gaseous refrigerant generated in the evaporator is drawn into the compressor. The compressor compresses the refrigerant, significantly increasing its pressure and temperature, turning it into high-temperature and high-pressure gaseous refrigerant.
- Condenser: The high-temperature and high-pressure gaseous refrigerant enters the condenser, where it dissipates heat to the external environment (usually through air or cooling water) and re-condenses into a liquid state.
- Expansion Valve: The high-pressure liquid refrigerant after condensation passes through the expansion valve for throttling and pressure reduction, becoming a low-temperature and low-pressure liquid, and then re-enters the evaporator to start a new refrigeration cycle.

- Air-cooled Industrial Chiller: It dissipates the heat generated by the condenser to the air through a fan. It has the advantages of easy installation and small footprint, suitable for environments with relatively low temperatures and good ventilation.
- Water-cooled Industrial Chiller: It requires a cooling tower and a cooling water pump. It uses water to take away the heat from the condenser, with higher heat dissipation efficiency and more stable refrigeration effect. However, it occupies a certain amount of space and requires additional water resources, suitable for occasions with high refrigeration requirements and relatively abundant local water resources.

- Standard Industrial Chiller: Generally has fixed refrigeration parameters and configurations, suitable for many common industrial fields and production scenarios.
- Low-temperature Industrial Chiller: It can provide even lower refrigeration temperatures, usually reaching dozens of degrees Celsius below zero.
